SAN FRANCISCO MOMA - B&W
I recently went to SF to take my son to the airport, and decided I should stay and see more sights of the City. There was a photography exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art(MOMA) that I wanted to see - Andreas Gursky known for his rather large prints (6’x10’+). I had never been to the MOMA and the architecture of that building is absolutely striking!! It’s all about line, texture and… black and white!! Yes!! I also soaked in the sights of the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts just across the street from the MOMA. People were bathing in the sunlight and laughing, talking. The sun shining on my face as I leisurely walked around and clicked off shots. So much to see in half a day - I love adventures in the City! Surrounding the other side of the grassy knoll of the Yerba Buena Center was a movie theater and other trendy shops, housed in this fabulous modernistic piece of architecture called the Metreon! Lots of glass ... brushed silver ... techno music ... eeek! I had to ask some customers at the coffee shop to ‘excuse me’ while I pushed my way in to take a couple of shots of glass artwork hanging suspended over the counter. I was definitely on a mission! ;-)

MOMA Entrance #1
These were my first views of the MOMA when I walked in ... and I thought I’d died and gone to Heaven!
MOMA Entrance #2
Line, curves, light, shadows, concrete, granite, wood, and mosaic! Unbelievable!
Walking Up the Stairway #1
All I had to do was look up while walking up the stairs and it was magic! I wondered how many other photographers had experienced this same thrill I was experiencing for the first time! I know I must have had the biggest smile ever on my face!
Walking Up the Stairway #2
Turret Bridge
This was looking up towards the ceiling while I walked across the Turret Bridge on the fifth floor! Awesome architecture! The MOMA was designed by Swiss architect, Mario Botta, and is one of the largest American art museums built in the nineties (225,000 square feet).
Shades of Gray # 1
So, how many shades of gray are there really?? The museum ceiling above the Turret Bridge was casting some great shadows on the walls of the fourth floor stairway.

The Metreon
The lower building is the Metreon – lots of glass and steel.
Statue of Liberty
This is the inside of the Metreon, heavy steel beams protruding from a kioske inside the building.
Escalator
Inside looking out! With glass all around, there was a multitude of reflections happening here.
Metreon Walkway
This walkway went over and across the lower level retail stores.
Stairway Reflections
I waited for passersby to get out of view to take this shot.
Glass Lights #1
These were the fabulous blown glass lights that hung over the counter at the coffee shop. They drew me in like a magnet! Crazy!
