HISTORIC BODIE, CA (09.09) - COLOR
So here we were fresh on a new historical site, in the middle of the day. However, we were lucky as it was a very cloudy but sunny day. You have to make the most of where you're at even under the worst conditions. These shots were taken with a point and shoot Pentax 8.0 megapixels that has 7X zoom - and no viewfinder which is total chaos when you're out in the sun. It takes great pics - I use it when I don't want to 'waste' my film! ; )

Remains of residence
It was basically "picture perfect" - nothing else for me to do but click!
Archway left standing
There are several remaining archways in the town of Bodie. This one draws you in.
The Wheaton & Hollis Hotel
This is a side glance of the front of the hotel with a little bit of reflections of the beautiful blue sky.
Haunting Remains
A bedroom of haunting memories. I think it would be cool to have a time machine - stand in one place and go back in time to see what went on. Well, maybe not!
Antique Car
A car buff told me this was either a Buick or Pontiac, but he was definite about the year, a '36.
Bodie Jail
Now the Bodie Jail wasn't too far away from the Bodie Bank which seemed odd to me. But here you can see where the damage a 'flood'? left at one time or another.
Historic Bottles
Housed in a glass case in the Miners Union Hall (now used as a museum and gift shop) were all these bottles unearthed and found in the town of Bodie.
Stuart Kirkwood Livery Stable
Natural Beauty
Here the remains of a wagon frame in the foreground and the natural state of the land - make for something pleasing to the eye.
Collection of Lanterns
Underneath the lanterns were the remains of old leather gloves and shoes.
Abandoned Wagon
It's amazing what is still left and standing right where it was left. When and how does one decide to eventually leave? When you're the last man standing? Hhmmmm...
Prince Albert
At some point some WAS painting the place, maybe had a cigar or a chew......and that was it.
