July 2002 I drove up to Oregon to visit my friends, Gary and Marti. They have property that is right next to Klamath Lake. I'd visited them a few years before and taken photos on their property; however, due to the cold weather and my inexperience with film and batteries in cold weather, the photos did not fare too well. So, now I was getting a second chance at it! This particular trip was during the time the southwest part of the state was consumed in a major forest fire, known as the Biscuit Fire that burned over 500,000 acres.

Barn (Inside)
This barn is totally awesome! I have no idea when it was built, however, the beams (poles) were 'tied' together, telling me it is an oldie but goodie. This particular shot doesn't do itself justice at this size. I had it enlarged to 16x20 and I was completely floored. At that size, it makes you feel as though you are standing right inside of it. |

Barn at Sunset
Gary asked me, "So what did you do to get this shot? I don't remember the barn ever looking like this!" I told him all I did was "wait" for the late afternoon sun, and the sun set the barn on fire. |

Barn/Aspen Grove
Another side shot of the barn with the Aspen grove next to it. |

Aspen Grove
This particular shot of the Aspen Grove I also took in B&W (see below). I framed this in an ornate silver frame, which brought out the silver bark of the aspens. The smoke from the fires is what is giving them so much depth. Probably could have gotten the same effect on an early winter morning. |

Aspen Leaves
Aspen are similar to Birch trees, and that is what I originally thought these were. Both species bark are white/silver, and though their leaves are different in shape, they are both similar in the way they shimmer in the wind. It's a beautiful sight and sound. |

Aspen Grove
I think I like the color one better. |
