CHUCKANUT COAST, WA - B&W/COLOR
Do you know how long I've been waiting to go see the Chuckanut Coastline?? Well over 10 years! I came across a magazine that did a photoshoot of actually something other than 'just' the coastline. I tore out the photo that had been taken at sunset hitting on the lava formations and that sunset was forever imprinted on my brain. So when Ron took me on a 3 week vacation, after leaving the San Juan Islands in Washington state, we headed further up I-5, over to Exit 236 along the coastline towards Larrabee State Park. That particular coastline is only 11 miles or so long. You won't see it unless you hike down a small ways right down to the ocean. However, you won't be disappointed.

Chuckanut Path
Just the small hike down there was worth the wait! It was absolutely gorgeous in its natural state.
Larrabee State Park
Someone knew what they were doing when they planted these trees at the entrance to the park.
Lava Flow
A closeup of the lava flow along the coast.
Lichen
Red lichen was growing in an odd circular formation - making it picture worthy!
Mother Nature
Here a manzanita tree continues to grow right out of the lava.
Rock and Fall Colors
I didn't do anything - these were the true vivid colors of the vines growing across the lichen covered rock with pine needles.
Lava Reflections
Chuckanut Lovers
Couldn't resist capturing both Mother nature and human nature.
Painted Bikes
These bikes were all strategically lined up in front of a rural residence. Since it was close to Halloween, someone had the artistic flair to paint these bikes white, with white pumpkin baskets attached. I instantly begged for mercy to stop the car and I ran back to click off a few shots!
