SAN FRANCISCO STREETS - B&W
Sometimes life just happens and you have to get out of Dodge! I lost a very dear friend unexpectedly. So one Sunday in February 2003, I threw my cameras in the car and I started driving. I ended up in San Francisco. I parked the car, which is not always an easy feat in the City, grabbed the Minolta and started walking along the Embarcadero area. The weather had been rainy and gray for weeks, and this was the first day of sunshine. Everybody was out on the streets - they looked like ants streaming out of an anthill. People everywhere, walking in no particular direction, mimes and other performers on the street. It was a great place to be. You know one of the things I really like about being a photographer? You see things others don't, and when you're trying to capture "it" people around you are craning their necks trying to figure out what you're seeing!! When this happens, I find myself chuckling to myself. Actually, it's more of a giggle! Enjoy!

Pier 33 #1
These two photos of the Pier 33 façade were taken with C-41 film. (The remainder of the photos on this page were taken with Kodak 400 TMAX.)
Pier 33 #2
Palm Trees
These palm trees line up along Embarcadero Street.
Artwork
There's some various pieces of artwork in front of a lot of the buildings along the Embarcadero. I thought the contrast was a good one with the brushed silver artwork against the monotony of the skyscraper.
Symmetry
The symmetry of this archway (which I think leads into an underground parking garage) was what caught my eye.
Reflections
I can never resist reflections. The gingerbread of a much older building was distorted in the mirrored glass windows of an obviously newer building.
Old Street Lantern
This was so cool! The sun was shining brightly as I hid behind the brick building and aimed up towards the sun that was streaming in through the old street lantern. The sun lit up the leaves of the tree.
Spider Web
I took several pictures of this spider web. It was right next to the street so I had to wait as cars went by or people walked in front of me. This was one of the photos I was talking about, when someone was watching me and wondering just what the heck I was looking at!
Surrealism
To me this looked SCI-FI 'cause it almost looks like a monorail. But it was just the side of a building with the ledges protruding and the sun was casting some great shadows!
Dick Tracy?
Another piece of color artwork changing like a chameleon to B&W.
Tree & Window Shades
For pretty simple inanimate objects, there was a lot going on.
Under Construction
Heading back to the car via a construction walkway.
